The Centre for Research on Tourism ITB (P2PAR-ITB)
Center for Studies and Research : The Centre for Research on Tourism was established on August 9, 1993 as one of 13 centre for researches operated under the coordination of the Institute for Research of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). The establishment of the Centre for Research on Tourism was to anticipate the significant growth of tourism role in Indonesia's national development. Despite of the importance and rapid development of tourism in Indonesia the involvement of Higher Education institution is still far limited in providing research and studies for policy making, planning, designing, and setting up of development programs.
As one of the leading universities in Indonesia, ITB is challenged to answer the need of providing skillful manpower and research which could support the growth and development of tourism. Through cooperation between Directorate General of Tourism, Department of Tourism, Post, and Telecommunication, and the Institute for Research of ITB, involving several other Departments within ITB, the Centre has now contributed to the tourism development in both local and national scale. The objective of the Centre is to accommodate tourism related studies and practices as an integrative interdisciplinary undertaking. The involvement of faculty members from various departments in ITB, the Centre will be able to play a more significant role in the present and future tourism development.
