Green Leadership Award and Community Engagement Award for BNI
On November 23, 2009, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk awarded Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Award (AREA- with specific category on Green Leadership Award and Community Engagement Award) by Enterprise Asia (a non-governmental organization in pursuit of entrepreneurship development). Green Leadership Award is given to corporate that believes in the larger responsibility for recognising the impact of running their business to the environment and seeks to reduce and reverse the impact. The recipient has consciously implemented programs and efforts which includes, but not limited to, the following: Energy Efficiency, Product Responsibility, Green Product Designs, Waste Reduction, Recycling and Water Conservation. The recipient should also have integrated environmental performance into its sustainable development strategy and has an annual reporting structure to track its performance. While Community Engagement Award is given to businesses that are committed to the betterment of the community that they are operate in. The Community Engagement Award was given to BNI for its Kampoeng BNI (icon of BNI’s commitment to community development) and Green Leadership Award was partly because the company can show its commitment toward green bank and sustainable development - that was in the Developing Sustainable Business (DSB) project scheme in partnership with Yayasan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan.

LEAD International Session in Beijing, China
 Cohort 14 representatives from all over LEAD Office in the world have attended international session in Beijing, China, from November 8 – 14, 2009. The 2009 LEAD International Session had brought together around 150 emerging leaders representing diverse professional sectors and more than 30 nationalities to discuss and learn climate change related issues, leadership skills, and get the insights from site visits. Dr. Rajendra K. Pachauri, the Chair of IPPC - through a video conference - mentioned the urgency of taking every possible actions, preventing the planet from increasing global temperature. Achim Steiner, the Executive Director of UNEP, shared his knowledge on climate change debate in international arena, where he encouraged participants to do whatever they think as the right thing to do, in this chaotic world full of conflicting issues.

Public Seminar on Developing Sustainable Business: Learning from Our Clients
Developing Sustainable Business (DSB) Program has been a program of Yayasan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan – host of LEAD Indonesia programs – since 2006. Through partnership with AtKisson Groups International, YPB has been applying AtKisson Sustainability Accelerator Tools (ASAT’s) to the project. In the last three years, DSB program has been working with 7 (seven) leading companies in Indonesia: PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (represent mining company), PT Indonesia Power (represent energy sector), PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk, PT Riau Andalan Pulp & Paper (represent plantation company), Losari Spa Retreat & Coffee Plantation (represent services sector), PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (represent banking industry & state-own company), and PT Mardohar Catur Tunggal Gaya (represent manufacture industry). With the full support from LEAD International and British Embassy the program has assisted our clients in formulating their path towards sustainability.

International Training Program in Sweden-an invitation by SIDA
 YPB represented by Darwina Widjajanti (Executive Director) has been invited by The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) to join advanced International Training Programmes (ITP) of strategic importance to the social, economic, and environmental development in the country. Other Indonesia representatives were from Ministry of Environment and Teachers Institute, Sampoerna Foundation. The International Training in Sweden conducted from September 14 to October 3, 2009, attended by 25 selected participants from Africa (Lesotho, Tanzania, Namibia) and Asia (Laos, Bangladesh, Mongolia and Indonesia).
